Blacklisted Words on Jumia
Have you ever tried to upload a product on Jumia and get a prompt that says you can’t use a particular word on Jumia? Yup, that’s it. Blacklisted!
Blacklisted words are words that must never be used on Jumia. In order words, they are taboo words. Jumia blacklists words for different reasons. Presently, there are over 1,000 words that have been blacklisted on Jumia SellerCenter and here are some of the reasons;
The word or phrase is sexually Explicit. They are the exact words you can’t say freely in public. Words that are in this category should be avoided to maintain decorum on the website.
Items are considered dangerous and potentially harmful if they fall into the wrong hands. Weapons and harmful products e.g Pepper Sprays, Tear Gas, Stun Guns, etc fall under this category.
Import Restriction: Some products are banned from being imported by the country’s customs or border control. These product names are blacklisted for global sellers who ship from abroad.
Brand names and pseudonyms of luxury brands are also blacklisted to reduce counterfeit risk.
Regulatory Issue, Recreational & Prescription Drugs: Since recreational and prescription drugs are banned on Jumia, you’ll be unable to use any of those names or words in your products.
Regulatory Issue, Banned Products: If a class of products is restricted from online sales by government regulatory bodies, related keywords will be blacklisted on SellerCenter. e.g army fatigues.
Customer Experience: Wrong Delivery & Wrong Content: We blacklist words that may affect our customer experience. If we know of a product that gives consumers a poor experience, we will blacklist keywords related to that product.
Brand Not Allowed: Due to varying reasons, certain brands are prohibited on Jumia and as such, you may be unable to list.
