Ask QC: Can I list Hampers, Christmas Trees and Bags of Rice on Jumia?
The holiday season is here, and as a smart business, you are probably wondering which seasonal items to list on Jumia. Christmas trees? Hampers? Bags of rice? Or even poultry? We’re answering all the questions you might have about listing these.
Poultry: Livestock (chickens and turkeys) are delicate and require extreme care to be transported alive. Transporting Livestock is not something we’re taking on at the moment, so you cannot list LIVE ANIMALS on Jumia at the moment. There’s Grilled Chicken on Jumia Food though.
Rice: You can list some types of rice on Jumia – Basmati Rice, Ofada, Quinoa, Bulgur and Couscous under 25kg are all permitted. However, regular Thai parboiled rice (e.g. Big Bull, Royal Stallion, Tomato Aroso, etc.) is restricted to only authorised sellers. If you intend to list a restricted brand of rice on Jumia, do raise a claim to verify that you are permitted to sell.
Christmas Trees & Large Decorations: You can only sell dismantled Christmas Trees and small to medium furniture and interior on Jumia. For assembled Christmas trees and bulky interior decor, you should contact seller support to guide you on next steps. You should also explicitly state in the product description if the product is stackable or several feet high.
Hampers- Hampers are a great gift choice and oh so pretty. But they’re also bulky and fragile, and difficult to ship because of their size. So, effective immediately, you won’t be allowed to list hampers on Jumia.
