Reasons Not All Vendors Can List Grocery Products
Today, it is almost impossible to visit a marketplace and not see grocery items being sold. The demand for grocery products is very high, which is inevitable because food and drinks make up a huge chunk of our needs as humans. These products are consumed daily by every household and therefore they move fast, making it profitable for sellers.
In the world of E-commerce, this fact remains. These products are generally referred to as Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). FMCG include items like beverages, toiletries, cleaning supplies, fresh and frozen goods, etc. Because these products are high-risk (Ingestible & Skincare), hence not every vendor is allowed to sell them on the website.
Due to the sensitivity of these products, there are rules guiding the listing of FMCG on the website.
In other to avoid being penalized and smoothen your experience when listing products, below are some rules and guidelines to follow:

All FMCG listings are limited to Jumia managed accounts. Want to be a managed account on Jumia? Kindly raise a claim on Seller Center to know criteria.

FMCG should always carry a NAFDAC number, Shelf life or PAO (Period After Opening).

If at any point you seek clarification on the kind of products you are permitted to list, you should do so by raising a claim on Seller Center where answers will be provided to all gray areas.
It is important to note that adhering to these guidelines will not only help protect your store against the risk of being delisted, it will also help us avoid regulatory government issues that may occur if these products are listed by unauthorized vendors.
